Russell Zwerner serves as the Senior Pastor of Capitol Heights Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, where he has led since 2020. With a commitment to expository preaching and a strong focus on discipleship, Pastor Zwerner seeks to equip and mobilize others for Kingdom work.

With a background serving in various ministry roles that spans across several states, including Louisiana, and Florida, Pastor Zwerner is passionate about making disciples and building up the local church. He holds advanced theological degrees, including a Ph.D. (awaiting defense) and an M.Div. in Expository Preaching from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His deep commitment to biblical truth shapes his vision for Capitol Heights as a church centered on Christ and equipped to impact the city for God’s glory.

Pastor Zwerner is a devoted husband to his wife, Anne, and father to their three children: Bonnie Jane, Ryan Kent, and Carson James. He and his family are on mission to create a gospel-driven community where believers grow in their faith and are sent out to proclaim the glorious gospel of Jesus!
